wow I think I think just hitting everyone in here is pretty much the definition of community if every day program today it's a very special day and we want to start it off with the song McFadden practicing all right Pioneer Woman cheese where is my refund ringtone free ringtone ringtone ringtone so for those of you who don't know if you're visiting for the first time I missed it. The principal here very proud of the amazing if you had to park at Dunkin Donuts glad that you're here and kids if you ever wondered about the level of support you have in this community just look around for one and you will see family members community members is this members you'll see PTA parents you'll see our administrators from the district and enforcement safety officers and all your teachers and support staff who care for you what is a day where we have a special opportunity and it's a tradition in our school but one of the things that makes a community special and is used to study cultures are you study helps her boyfriend than you study stations in and you know that Traditions are a really big part of what makes people feel connected in their culture in immunity is the tradition how is that hard so that your work in school feels more Realty but when you write a writing piece you think about now that that writing piece has an audience it's not just a piece of paper that goes to pictures that asking got to score right you think about the purpose of why you're writing is it to inform is it too entertaining are you trying to change something in the world and you're going to give this to a politician can you know what it what we're trying to do more of those two to make it more real so you think about why it's not just a worksheet right how would that ever look in real life how could you show that three different ways why does it matter today's work is really one way that we can tie together all the projects all the learning that you do posters all around the room sure how much you do every every day every month here and you know and we want to show you today I are celebrating you and you respect your hard work or so proud of you and the reason that we have people come from the district to maybe your principles and your superintendence down the road here as you if you stayed with them and those were still here we want them to know proud of you when they get you a student they give their time to come and they've Bob to come every year that's part of the tradition why do I want to introduce everybody who's your one at a time as the people do not want you to think that that's pretty cool right the first introduction I'd like to make is mister Chris Powell who has been in the district I think one more year than I have been thinking 21 years maybe okay he has been a science teacher Middle High School principal for many years now and next year he has another special position right here in Windham where he's going to be the assistant superintendent for very proud that he took the time to be here thank you guys and thank you again for inviting me up for another year is that tradition important missions are great team here that I've had a chance came in today and to be able to celebrate with all of you and even principals and Community day is always one of my favorites in the reason why it's my favorite is I think this process and all the prom you learned over the course of the chip are what we as important how important it is to actually help other important being able to talk to your community difference in your community and a little secret but that little secret is that when a person who actually filled how often is a lot more for your projects this morning call me if you help people here in Windham and Cumberland County state of Maine there are now animals in Africa now have a better place and better home the people that are going to living better quality of Lies I think the other thing that all of you will learn to this whole process importance of being kind to one another high school principal High School in thousands one of the messages that we always important and the importance of when you go out into the world of work that you're able to work with and it's Grable to Kenneth if you disagree with them but that Importance of Being that good person a good citizen at person that everybody in the communities this that's a standup person really trust them as I was walking around this morning I would had a chance to read some of it and I found one particular Friday that I want to share with you that I think sums up what you think is all about so for second time I took a picture on my phone because of how you treat people matters either kid who helps others encouraging he sympathetic part one ear after others others come from either can't have  with someone who's alone because you can how do you treat others matters best words of wisdom that you can hear today I come from me or mr. Prince X going to come one of your fellow students Olivia Luigi who wrote that I just want to congratulate all of you once again for an outstanding. Thank you parents who did members for showing up and feeling your thank you once again for inviting me to this 7-Day Store look forward to hearing more about your project thank you proud of that too like to call up another important part of our tradition that if you were here last year you saw this happen but ever yours a little bit different so this year we have mrs. Lee coming up distinguished guests I'm so happy you're here like mr. Howell this is probably one of my favorite days the year because if you guys showing off but it's showing off in a good good when I'm so proud of the food drives I'm so proud of family fun night and I need to make a little about Mrs Williamson's Iditarod read-a-thon was raised over $5,000 for your computer 15 years old 15 years I've been building birdhouses and from the kitchen this last year Pokemon every tree in the property to the superintendent's office in Windham BMW New York City they are everywhere and I was running out of places to put them really is the epitome of community service certainly you have to be courageous and brave and compassion and officers enforcement Community every single day whether it's with weather in Cumberland County weather is the state of Maine for our animals everything at the street addition to find 10 very worthy officers to resent are birdhouses to can you so much for taking time to come you guys I really appreciate it wonderful getting of law enforcement officers have siblings and Andrew at Elias and Steven Strait this is awesome I love this very cool introduced the children will presented with your bird the Wyndham Police Department this is Sergeant Fulton and Chris Argent Poltergeist open both of us next officers Windham Police Department so and this is Officer Buck next time for sure Gorham Police Department he is Sergeant Young CaringBridge sure is from Cumberland County Sheriff's department and Elise is in my classroom so we're very honored to have Deputy as one of our we sticking out Police Department search Sanborn next Pacers standing next to Joseph for the Portland Police Department this is Officer siblings next officer troop Seattle Skowhegan for many years and then he became the car of the Maine State Police Department charger every single state policeman in the state of Maine tired now we still will honor him with this is Curtis. can I watch the last officer down from Wilton this morning I'm very appreciative of that misses of our fishing games mr. Gordon you need to come up and stand with the distinguished oh my goodness mr. Brown join us for a minute please when did mr. bored and he said to me I shouldn't be standing with law enforcement officers on the officers morning runs when the Millworks which is right across the street and it for 15 years that you donated thousands and thousands of board feet of lumber so I can preserve our law enforcement officers so I told him you're here to earn one of our bird houses mr. Borden and one of our last recipients as you all know is undisturbed but I am not sure that you do know that mr. Bell is a veteran from the US Army did he serve some tours over and I wrapped it is also a US Army veteran. I need to see this shishir there's some confusion here this is Ali I years ago you mentioned it looking do you call the people who amplify courage and bravery I think we know that there is a young man in this room is a perfect example of that this year with his battle and he is here today congratulations buddy Waltham magic music okay oh my gosh this room is demonstrated bravery and courage teacher car accident October she was do you want to come back to school till next year 5 months later here she is Cheddar's restaurant I want to thank everybody here and everybody hanging and everyone are never mind can you just specially I had this plaque made and it says some people are all going because roses have thorns I am painful that towards have Frozen and I am so thankful for everybody that helped me for this experience but I'm so grateful to be back a part of his community because it really really helps thank you very much one person upstairs I really really appreciate your time Selena how many times can you come up in a second we have just want to take one moment and recognize someone who's been instrumental in all our community days from the very beginning and we can't remember how many years it is we think it's at least 10 but it could be more Community Day celebrates not just Community but a spirit of creativity and some things are the same but every year we are shocked by the creative can you all come up with three students who decide they want to Champion is Burton cause because they know someone who has a certain illness and they make it happen class that decides stop trashing our environment we're going to have the whole school recycle and we're doing it still to this day kinds of creative ideas about of the person that embodies Creative Energy and the spear Community Day here for year after year who's been on the committee and gets us all fired up every year I'd like this is Angie Blanchard to come on up for one minute is she better be there thank you appreciate it. Love you and together we really have come this far thank you so much show me a I'll check over that thanks and this is Angus to Kelowna I seen that right where is that at I need to know our community project is family fun night for the past couple years I've done a couple of different things this year for my first 10 years ago I know it's hard to believe that attention 10 years decided that we were going to donate our family fun night security unfortunately I'm going to donate that money now the shirts most of you know me my first year another student decided on Manchester it's exactly what I told we went home so long she came in with a pink shirt with my name is Roy. And I just couldn't say no song give me a picture of an hour class is donating $500 help her to do hi everyone thank you for coming this is awesome my password really hard on this year for our community Day project that I'm actually going to have to tell us a little bit about what we've decided what we done we raise money for the msspa and I have a couple of wonderful visitors that if you want to come up and down the nssta skins for the Nevada state Society for the protection of animals the animals they're happy going to be used in Eclectic other animals to MSN stays open every day before yesterday even though it is at least as it is written in which means they are. where can I find the handcuffs $5 down that is super expensive for them especially cuz it's a non-profit company images of the same as his class work on our community project we made snowman ornaments and sold them for we spell approximately 200 ornaments with the help of donations and we raised $365 for the msspa the money. Strange movie used to help pay for their animals 2065 horses energy cost $630 a week in 1006 $65,000 a year that's why I use to cover the horses in animals $365 to the NSS. I want to say thank you to the 5th graders and 5th graders can you raise your hands here for me okay two weeks ago we brought a ride horse for the school her name was Grace she had never been out to a school before I we talk to the students and ask them to help and make a great first for her to go out and do an event like that they did an awesome job will go back and Grace will be eating some hay today along with all the other words so thank you very much I'm impressed with what everyone is gay okay how to say that having the real horse race here some kids were texting and you didn't get to meet her cuz we don't want to distract you blow iron standardized test scores but she wasn't and I hope she comes back next year and I'm proud of you guys were so calm and respectful when you Chesapeake race horses who did that she can go out and do that for other schools that made me very proud I wish we could have animals here all the time but you know policy can be observed around me what is the best part of the show is where you get to watch your slideshow in every class contributes their 05 watch carefully air conditioning Bear River Casino rock painting about this year something different one sound ladies to walk down the beach and look for rocks that would make her happy picture of a Sharpie and put it in her pocket and she went her beat Black got this idea and that same strangely crazy enough one of her friends call her who live near the beach and sun did you find a note on a rock today and the ladies like sad from that moment on that became her so now she started this whole people paint rocks and they leave them in surprising place with really kind and firing messages for other people to find imagine that pretty cool you definitely have a spirit and you definitely prove that to you all your work this year I have another guest introduce mr. Drew pan who is the principal at Windham Middle where you will be going next year but he's also more than that what are the talent show I don't know Siri just saved me asking to something in my agenda when they're standing right there we do have a special performance and a little announcement about her own challenge though Manchester School mr. spell invisible is upcoming talent show will be the first Thursday after we keep them on April 26th 68 at the high school auditorium the money raised from the township or Dare program in our community project especially because it involves the entire school to the upcoming show me for using Molly flat sugar sugar baby dolls the talent show is it super fun to get your tickets from your family in film and it's one of the most fun nights I hope you could join us so I went back to mr. Patton Middle School principal for the first time in this school a dad of one of our students to talk with you today. good morning everyone principal Windham Middle School I want to start off by saying thank you for the invite today and thank you for being put on the spot to speak and close things out you always have to make sure I don't repeat anything I say thank you to all of our lawn mower Spinners our service number for standing in front of me during the last two bird houses so that you couldn't see me cry because it was it was very impactful so thank you for that what I want that was supposed to be a joke thank you what I want to start off like today in Jessup I'm going to today and I had the privilege to be here last year to are some themes and then mr. Howell crush on this briefly but one of the biggest things about people and telling each other how people in different countries help people in different states also it's also a feeling and I want to talk about that just for a little bit if you know me I need an 11 I needed a lot of help in my life that's meant to be a joke to feeling that I find Edwin m is amazing from my perspective I have a difficult job but the feeling that I have is that I have people that I can reach out to other administrators other principles to help you with it I've always had parents that are supportive of the school support of our teacher staff members that are willing to do anything for anybody I can always I always know that there's a sense of a long hair and a sense that help that are buying something for a student that I can provide all I have to do is pick up the phone call a parent send out an email as my boss ask a principal and we make that happen and that's something that's very special about the wind has been at one point in time to help each other out and we've been able to deliver on that it's not something that every single commit I want to thank everybody for their participation today all the parents all the committee members are coming out can what I want to bring home for everybody is at in that sense you don't have to go you don't have to go to loan if it's difficult and there are people here that are willing to help you at any point in time there people willing to help students learn the challenges I have for everybody closing today two things one is be willing to reach out to people and ask them if they need help that you're there to talk to that you're there to offer your help that might be difficult so we willing to offer that help the last thing is he willing to ask for help just remember that everybody here in this room raise your hand talent show has never asked for somebody else's how long to get to to be successful I want that if we shouldn't be afraid to reach out to somebody we shouldn't be afraid if we're having it at all times somebody to talk to and for all the students here look at everybody around you that's here for you today just remember that there is help if you need it okay people will support you will get you what you need so that you can be successful always provided to them so you willing to give your help if you willing to ask for help as well all right so I will be coming to school after April break to meet with you all to start to talk about the transition to to middle school middle school how many of you are ready right now you're ready alright let's go totally get it I'm not ready yet so excited and exciting time for all of you have about 8 more weeks of school middle school students in my job is to prepare for Middle School my job is to prepare you for high school so that you can get a diploma to get a diploma from high school so that you can be successful then you can have the career at the lifestyle have the job that you want so I'm excited to see all of you this is really the first time that I'm going to be spending some time together over the next two weeks before you start at when the middle school I'll be visiting we come to school to visit me see the classes meet teachers and then we'll have the summer and then we'll get a rocking and rolling and September so what I've seen today do some things with some things that I'm excited about 1 is when is the Indian that you have the respect that you have for adults in each other in this room. I'm really looking forward to having you have your creativity having your passion for school so make sure you bring that with you when I see you in September I'll see you all soon Is It Anyway I wanted to just repeat all the statues but I don't want to forget some really important thank you very much appreciate all your work who helps you with that work. pictures Strivers awesome is the people who served about 400 breakfast this morning by the way right thank you how are you the Parent-Teacher Association are volunteers what do you show up once a week for 2 years or every day like our foster grandmother's for years on end we really we rely on your help and we really appreciate you very much and I don't want to forget our board members who shows up every year Faithfully or where are you thank you our local agencies that support us fire and safety and Community organizations that as mrs. We mentioned if we espresso you always are blessed by people's generosity and they helped us a lot so thank you for that I only want before before we wrap it up today it's a really big deal to be a superintendent of a school district this big it's a pretty big deal I know it's one of his favorite things to do so are we close I want to hand this microphone over for just a quick minute mr.
