Parent Resources

If you are looking for resources to support your child in reading and/or math at home, please explore the following options.

 

  • IXL:  This is a comprehensive math practice site (www.ixl.com) with an unlimited number of math practice questions for hundreds of skills.  Students log on individual with individual user names and passwords at school or home (they need to type @wrsd at the end of their user name).  IXL keeps track of students’ work and which skills they have completed.
  • STRETCH-To-Go:  This is an online component of FASTT Math which is available at school or home.  To access STRETCH-To-Go at home, go to www.fasttmath.com/stretch, enter the zip code 04062, click OK, Windham Raymond School Department should come up, and click GO.  Students enter the user name and password they normally use for FASTT Math.  STRETCH-To-Go provides additional practice of math facts and computation through games aligned with Common Core State Standards for math.
  • ThatQuiz:  This is a free web site (www.thatquiz.com) students can use to practice a wide variety of math concepts including arithmetic, place value, identify/simplify fractions, inequalities, probability, time, money, measurement, graphs, identify shapes, angles, perimeter, area, and volume.  
  • Mrs. Burian’s PortaPortal:  Please feel free to use this web site at home to practice math skills. In order to access the variety of math links on the site, visit www.portaportal.com and type dbutler in the “Guest Access” box or go directly to www.portaportal.com/dbutler.  The web site is divided into categories including general math help & practice, math facts, number, data, geometry, measurement, algebra (patterns, etc.), and more math games & activities.  Click the gray triangles in order to expand or collapse each category.
  • Flashcards:  Do flashcards to practice math facts or sight words with your child.
  • Reading Street Games:  Waltke’s Web is a great resource to support Reading Street instruction.  You can access this site by visiting http://classroom.jc-schools.net/waltkek/.  You will find spelling games, daily “fix-its,” vocabulary work, and comprehension activities.
  • Lexile:  Visit www.lexile.com to help your child select “just right” level books.
  • Library:  Go to the Windham Public Library for books, audio books, or computer access.
