Please read below for details about the math interventions or programs that we provide at Manchester School.
Math Interventions/Programs
Math Computation and Concepts (30 minutes per session, 4 days per week)
- Emphasis on Common Core State Standards in math including whole number computation, place value, patterns, fractions/decimals, interpret data/graphs, measurement, classify shapes, draw/identify/measure lines and angles, perimeter/area/volume, graph points on a coordinate plane, and solve word problems
- Reinforce math skills from the capacity matrix students are working on in their math class
- Review foundational math skills
IXL (www.ixl.com)
- Comprehensive math practice site with unlimited practice questions for hundreds of skills
- Saves student progress toward mastering skills
- Celebrates effort and persistence; students earn virtual awards
FASTT Math
- Computer-based intervention program targeting math fact fluency at school
- FASTT stands for Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology
- Differentiates instruction and provides targeted practice to develop math fact fluency (accuracy and speed) with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts
- Improves automatic recall of basic facts (essential for success with higher-level math)
- Moves newly acquired facts from working memory to long-term memory; immediate recall helps to free students’ working memory to focus on more complex math problems
